What this machine is for
The Kemppi X8 600A FastMig is a multiprocess MIG/MAG power source for heavy industry. The documentation quoted 600 A at a 40% duty cycle and 440 A at 100%, that is multi run welding of thick structures without breaks. Double pulse gives a weld face close to the TIG method and orders the heat input, which is why the machine went to plants welding aluminium and large steel structures.
The power source had the Kemppi process package. WiseFusion narrows and focuses the arc, which gives deeper penetration with less heat and helps in narrow gaps. WisePenetration+ holds a steady penetration depth despite changes in the wire stick out, so less depends on how evenly the operator guides the torch. Operation goes through a wireless Control Pad, from which you read the WPS welding procedure at the station. The system links with WeldEye to collect data from production, and the menu has a Polish language version.
What to watch out for
The supply is 3 x 400 V. Liquid cooling, that is the coolant level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings are checked before every shift. The 600 A current has a 40% duty cycle, for continuous work the documentation quoted 440 A, and the cable sections and the torch are picked to that figure. The card did not list a wire feeder, a torch or an earth cable, that equipment had to be confirmed separately. Condition B means traces of use and full working order. The condition letter says nothing about load capacity or duty cycle.
