What this machine is for
Lorch V40 AC/DC is an industrial TIG power source for alternating and direct current, with an MMA mode. With alternating current you weld aluminium and its alloys, with direct current stainless and high alloy steel. The machine went to plants that make tanks, heat exchangers and pipelines.
The control is based on the SmartBase database. The MACCS function shapes the alternating current wave asymmetrically, separately for the positive and the negative half wave, so you set the share of cleaning and penetration yourself. Tiptronic remembers 100 programs, and the pulse reaches 20 kHz. The panel has a CAN-Bus connector for automation, and the mains voltage compensation circuit lets the machine work from a generator.
What to watch out for
Three phase supply 400 V, a 32 A time delay fuse, protection class IP23. You set the current from 3 to 400 A in TIG and from 10 to 400 A in MMA. The duty cycle from the documentation is 320 A at 60% and 250 A at 100%. The torch is liquid cooled, a cooler is necessary. Condition B means traces of use and full working order checked in our service workshop.
