3Dprint AM Cryo 316L is a stainless solid wire for WAAM additive manufacturing, made for low temperature service.
It is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, both by hand with a semiautomatic torch and on mechanised stations. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the face. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion.
