Avesta FCW-2D 2205 is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding duplex and superduplex steels. It is used in the chemical, pulp and paper and marine industries, on parts that carry mechanical and corrosive loads at the same time.
The rutile core gives a fast freezing pool, a well shaped face and slag that lifts easily. The slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even and the transitions to the parent metal are smooth. Typical work covers chemical plants, desalination units, tanks and offshore structures in duplex steel.

Watch the heat input and the interpass temperature, overheating duplex upsets the ferrite to austenite balance in the weld. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool. Set the current and the voltage to the thickness and the position, and check them on a test piece before production.
