Union S 1 CrMo 2 V is a low-alloy, creep resistant submerged arc (SAW) wire. It is used on boilers, steam pipelines, refinery installations and parts working at elevated temperature.
The wire works as a set with a matched flux, which decides the mechanical properties of the weld. Its copper coated surface improves current pick-up in the contact tip, and the deposit resists creep at elevated temperature.
- Classification EN ISO: 24598-A S S ZCrMoV2
- AWS classification: A5.23 / SFA-5.23 EG
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 3.2 / 4.0 mm
Do not interrupt welding and do not let the joint drop below the interpass temperature before the fill is finished. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off.
