WEARcore 385-S is a submerged arc cored wire that deposits a martensitic alloy made to resist metal to metal wear, corrosion and thermal fatigue.
The wire works as a set with a matched flux, which decides the mechanical properties of the weld. It is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks, and in maintenance work where worn dimensions are restored. Previously sold as SK 385-SA.
- Classification EN ISO: 14700 T Fe8
- AWS classification: 8555 UP 6-GF-55-CG
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Hardness of deposit: 54 HRC
Remove the fatigued and hardened surface layer before you build up, a deposit laid on worn material will flake off. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
