WEARcore 415-S is a submerged arc cored wire that deposits a ferritic martensitic steel with additions of vanadium and niobium, made to resist metal to metal wear, corrosion and thermal fatigue.
Submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds. The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks. Previously sold as SK 415-SA.

Lay the overlay in overlapping beads and watch the part temperature, an overheated component will distort and crack where the layers meet. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. When you work to a qualified procedure, check that the filler matches what the WPS states.
