WEARcore 420-O is a self-shielded cored wire that deposits a martensitic steel with 13 % chromium, which gives good resistance to metal to metal wear and to corrosion. Typical applications are dredging pump casings and continuous casting rollers.
You weld without a cylinder, the pool is shielded by the decomposition of the core ingredients, so the wire suits outdoor work, wind included, and no regulator is needed at the station. It goes into maintenance work, rebuilding dimensions and strengthening surfaces exposed to wear.
- Classification EN ISO: 14700 T Fe8
- AWS classification: 8555 MF 6-GF-55-C
- Shielding: self-shielded, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.8 mm
- Hardness of deposit: 54 HRC
On hard deposits expect a network of shrinkage cracks, on working overlays that is normal, but it must not reach the parent material. Work with fume extraction, self-shielded wires smoke far more than gas shielded ones. Check the polarity before you start, self-shielded wires often run differently from solid wires. Previously sold as SK 420-O.
