WEARstick Tool 58 is used for wear resistant build-ups on cold and hot working tools, above all on the cutting edges of hot cutting tools, hot shear blades, trimming tools and cold cutting knives. New cutting tools can also be produced by welding onto non-alloy or low-alloy base materials. Previously sold as UTP 673.
The classification is E 3-UM-60-ST to DIN 8555 and E Z Fe3 to EN 14700. The hardness of the pure deposit is about 58 HRC and the heat resistance reaches 550 degrees C. The spray transfer gives a smooth, finely rippled bead and the slag comes off without resistance. The electrode runs on alternating current and on direct current of either polarity.

The maker states that the electrode melts at very low amperage, which is the main argument when you rebuild an edge: a small current means little dilution and a sharp edge without undercut. The single 2.5 mm diameter fits that job, and for large losses you should take another electrode. Preheat the tool, cool it slowly and finish the edge by grinding.
