WEARtig Tool 35 is a TIG rod for hot work tool steels and steels of a similar nature, with a hardness of 50 to 54 HRC after age hardening.
You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld, which suits deposits that need a smooth face. The rod is used in maintenance work, where worn dimensions are restored and surfaces reinforced. Previously sold as UTP A 702.
- Classification EN ISO: 14700 S Z Fe5
- AWS classification: S Z Fe5
- Shielding gas: I1
Remove the fatigued and hardened surface layer before you build up, a deposit laid on worn material will flake off. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop.
