BÖHLER A 7 CN-UP is a submerged arc (SAW) wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.
The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks. Its deposit keeps its impact toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so it reaches tanks for liquefied gases, and the low hydrogen level reduces the risk of cold cracking.
- Classification EN ISO: S 18 8 Mn
- AWS classification: ER307 (mod.)
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 2.4 / 3.0 mm
Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the bead face. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
