BÖHLER alform® 700-IG is a low-alloyed, high-strength solid wire. It suits welding quenched and tempered high-strength steels on working machines, booms, cranes and structures that need a high yield strength.
It is used on grades such as S690Q, S690QL and ASTM A 514, both by hand with a semiautomatic torch and on mechanised stations.
- Classification EN ISO: 16834-A G 79 5 M21 Mn4Ni1.5CrMo
- AWS classification: A5.28 / SFA-5.28 ER110S-G
- Shielding gas: M21
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
- Approvals: DB (42.132.60), CE
Keep the heat input inside the range given by the steel maker, going beyond it lowers the strength of the joint. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
