Application

What BÖHLER EAS 4 PW-FD (LF) flux-cored wire is used for

BÖHLER EAS 4 PW-FD (LF) is a rutile flux-cored wire for low-temperature nickel steels. It is used on liquefied gas tanks, cryogenic plant and refrigeration equipment.

It joins grades such as 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4435, 1.4436, 1.4571, 1.4580 and 1.4583 together with their equivalents. The slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even, the arc keeps calm in constrained positions, and the wire goes on LNG tanks, cryogenic plant and piping working below zero.

  • Classification EN ISO: T Z19 12 3 L P M/C1
  • AWS classification: E316LT1-4 ; E316LT1-1
  • Diameters: 1.2 mm

Keep the heat input and the interpass temperature down, toughness at low temperature falls as soon as the joint is overheated. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture.
