BÖHLER EAS 4 PW-FD is a flux-cored wire with a rutile core for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4435, 1.4436, 1.4571, 1.4580 and 1.4583. The deposit keeps its toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so the wire goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, and it resists intergranular corrosion.
- Classification EN ISO: T 19 12 3 L P M/C1
- AWS classification: E316LT1-4 ; E316LT1-1
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
