BÖHLER Q 70 MC is a metal-cored wire for mild steel, with impact toughness down to minus 30 degrees C. It is used on steel structures, tanks, machine frames and workshop work on plain carbon steel.
The wire gives a high deposition rate and a wide, flat penetration profile with a stable spray arc. It leaves only silicate islands instead of a full slag layer, which shortens cleaning between passes, and it goes into steel construction, tanks, pipework and series production.
- Classification EN ISO: 17632-A T 46 3 M M21 1 H5
- AWS classification: A5.18 / SFA-5.18 E70C-6M H4
- Shielding gas: M21, M20
- Approvals: TÜV (12542), DB (42.014.65), DNV, LR, BV, ABS, CWB, CE
Match the voltage to the wire feed speed, too low a setting gives a convex bead and no fusion into the edges. Check the feed roll pressure, a metal-cored wire is easier to crush than a solid one. Set the parameters for spray arc, in the short arc range a metal-cored wire loses its deposition advantage.
