diamondspark S 770 is a seamless flux-cored wire for submerged arc welding, low alloyed and high strength, for quenched and tempered 690 grade steels with overmatching requirements.
The wire works as a set with a matched flux, which decides the mechanical properties of the weld. Its seamless construction limits moisture pick-up in the core, and submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds.
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
Do not exceed the permitted interpass temperature, an overheated heat affected zone loses its toughness. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. The current ranges for each diameter are given in the manufacturer data sheet.
