Thermanit TG 316 L is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4541, 1.4306, X2CrNi1, 1.4550 and 1.4308. The composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion, and typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
- Classification EN ISO: T 19 12 3 L R M(C) 3
- AWS classification: E316LT0-4 ; E316LT0-1
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
