Union S 1 CrMo 2 is a low-alloy, creep resistant submerged arc (SAW) wire. It is used in boiler making, on pressure vessels and petrochemical installations.
The wire joins grades such as 1.7380, 10CrMo9-10, 1.7276, 1.7281, 16CrMo9-3, 1.7383 and 11CrMo9-10, along with related materials. Its copper coated surface improves current pick-up in the contact tip, and the deposit resists creep at elevated temperature.
- Classification EN ISO: 24598-A S S CrMo2
- AWS classification: A5.23 / SFA-5.23 EB3R
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm
Do not interrupt welding and do not let the joint drop below the interpass temperature before the fill is finished. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape.
