Union S 2 CrMo is a low-alloy, creep resistant submerged arc (SAW) wire. It is used in boiler making, on pressure vessels and petrochemical installations.
The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks, and its copper coated surface improves current pick-up in the contact tip. It is used on boilers and pressure vessels under statutory inspection, and the deposit resists creep at elevated temperature.
- Classification EN ISO: 24598-A S S CrMo1
- AWS classification: A5.23 / SFA-5.23 EB2R
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 4.0 mm
Watch the hydrogen level, dry consumables and a preheated groove are your basic protection against cold cracking. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off.
