UTP A 387 is a copper alloy solid wire of the Cu 7158 type, CuNi30Mn1FeTi. It goes on fittings, heat exchangers, bearing shells, slides and the repair of bronze parts.
The wire suits hand work with a semiautomatic torch and mechanised stations. It goes on offshore structures, where the joint works in a marine environment, and into shipbuilding and vessel repair, with a copper based deposit.
- Classification EN ISO: 24373 S Cu 7158 (CuNi30Mn1FeTi)
- AWS classification: A5.7 ER CuNi
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (01624)
Allow for the high thermal conductivity of copper and preheat thicker sections, otherwise you will not get fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
