UTP FNM4-G is a gas shielded metal cored wire designed for cold welding of cast iron parts.
It is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, and it also serves for cladding, that is protective layers laid on steel. Typical work covers casting repairs, engine blocks and machine parts in grey and nodular cast iron, including housings, machine bodies, pulleys and cracked castings.
- Classification EN ISO: 14700 T C NiFe-2
- AWS classification: T C NiFe-2
- Shielding gas: M13, I1, M21
- Diameters: 1.2 mm
- Hardness of deposit: 160 HB
Do not let the part heat up, in cast iron too high a temperature means white chill zones and cracks next to the weld. Clear the residue after every bead and keep the wire in dry storage. Weld cold in short beads and peen each one right after laying it, so the shrinkage stresses are released. The gas choice affects the shape of the face and the amount of spatter, so keep to the mixture given in the classification.
