WEARstick Co 1 stick electrode

Formerly: UTP Celsit 701. The manufacturer changed the catalogue name (voestalpine Böhler Welding catalogue 2025): WEARstick Co 1 stick electrode is the same product as UTP Celsit 701. Before ordering, confirm the diameter, packaging and current approvals in the product datasheet.

What WEARstick Co 1 stick electrode is used for

WEARstick Co 1 suits highly wear resistant hardfacing on parts subject to severe abrasion combined with corrosion and high temperatures up to 900 degrees C, such as working parts in the chemical industry, running and sealing faces on fittings, valve seats and cones for combustion engines, cutting and crushing tools, hot working tools under severe stress without thermal shock, and milling, mixing and drilling tools. Previously sold as UTP Celsit 701.

The classification is E CoCr-C to AWS A5.13, E Co3 to EN 14700 and E 20-UM-55 CSTZ to DIN 8555. The hardness of the pure deposit is 54 to 56 HRC, about 42 HRC at 600 degrees C and about 34 HRC at 800 degrees C. The deposit has excellent gliding characteristics, polishes well and is slightly magnetic. It is machined by grinding or with tungsten carbide tools, and the spray arc gives a homogeneous, finely rippled bead with very easy slag removal.

Surface in thin beads at the lowest practical current, so that mixing with the base material stays down, because dilution lowers the hardness of the first layer. On massive parts and alloy steels preheat the component and cool it slowly, a cobalt alloy does not take rapid cooling. Bring it to size by grinding, ordinary cutting tools will not manage this hardness.
