WEARstick Co 6 stick electrode

Formerly: UTP Celsit 706. The manufacturer changed the catalogue name (voestalpine Böhler Welding catalogue 2025, p. 164): WEARstick Co 6 stick electrode is the same product as UTP Celsit 706. Before ordering, confirm the diameter, packaging and current approvals in the product datasheet.

What WEARstick Co 6 stick electrode is used for

WEARstick Co 6 is used for hardfacing on parts subject to a combination of erosion, corrosion, cavitation, impact, pressure, abrasion and high temperatures up to 900 degrees C, such as tight surfaces on fittings, valve seats and cones for combustion engines, metal to metal gliding surfaces, highly stressed hot working tools without thermal shock, and milling, mixing and drilling tools. Previously sold as UTP Celsit 706.

The classification is ECoCr-A to AWS A5.13, E Z Co2 to EN 14700 and E 20-UM-40-CSTZ to DIN 8555. The hardness of the pure deposit is 40 to 42 HRC, about 30 HRC at 500 degrees C and about 160 HB at 700 degrees C. The deposit is non-magnetic, tough and polishes easily, machined by grinding or with tungsten carbide tools. The spray arc gives a homogeneous, finely rippled bead and the slag comes off very easily.

  • Classification EN 14700: E Z Co2, DIN 8555: E 20-UM-40-CSTZ
  • AWS classification A5.13 / SFA-5.13: ECoCr-A
  • Coating: rutile
  • Current: AC/DC+
  • Diameters: 3.2 / 4.0 mm
  • Lengths: 350 mm
  • Hardness of deposit: 40-42 HRC
  • Former name: UTP Celsit 706

This is the stellite grade most often chosen for valve seats, so keep to the two layer rule: the first mixes with the base and comes out softer, only the second gives the full properties. Surface at a low current with a short arc, preheat massive parts and cool them slowly. Bring the face to size by grinding after welding.
