WEARtig Tool 45 is a tool steel TIG rod for cold and hot work tool steels, with a medium hard weld metal of 42 to 46 HRC.
TIG gives you full control over the heat input and a clean, smooth deposit, and you feed the filler into the pool by hand. The rod rebuilds shafts, rollers, screws, blades and surfaces working under abrasion. Previously sold as UTP A 73 G3.

Remove the fatigued and hardened surface layer before you build up, a deposit laid on worn material will flake off. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Check how many layers you need to reach the target hardness, the first layer always mixes with the base material.
