WEARtig Tool 40 is a tool steel TIG rod for cold and hot work tool steels, with a medium weld metal hardness of 38 to 42 HRC.
You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld, so TIG gives you full control over the heat input. The rod is used in maintenance work, where worn dimensions are restored and surfaces reinforced. Previously sold as UTP A 73 G4.

Expect a network of shrinkage cracks in hard overlays, on working deposits this is normal, but it must not reach into the parent material. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop.
