3Dprint AM 17-4 PH is a martensitic stainless solid wire for WAAM additive manufacturing.
The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch, and the deposit has a martensitic structure. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts, in tank building and chemical or food equipment.

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
