BÖHLER SAS 2-IG (Si) is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4550, 1.4541, 1.4552, 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4312 and 1.4546. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, so it goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, and it resists intergranular corrosion.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
