3Dprint AM 430 is a high-alloyed ferritic stainless solid wire for WAAM additive manufacturing.
The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch, by hand and on mechanised stations. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
- AWS classification: AISi 430 - S43000 - X6Cr17 - 1.4016
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 / 5.9 mm
Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
