Avesta 2205 is a TIG rod for welding duplex and superduplex stainless steels. It works on chemical installations, desalination plant, tanks and offshore structures in two phase steels.
The rod suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face. You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld.

Do not quench the joint with water or force the cooling, too fast a cooling rate leaves too much ferrite in the weld. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
