Avesta 2507/P100 is a submerged arc (SAW) wire for welding duplex and superduplex stainless steels. It goes into tanks, pipelines and chemical or marine structures that need strength and corrosion resistance at the same time.
Submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds. The wire also suits root runs.
- Classification EN ISO: S 25 9 4 N L
- AWS classification: ER2594
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Watch the heat input and the interpass temperature, overheating duplex upsets the balance between ferrite and austenite in the weld. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner wires are easier to control.
