Thermanit NiMo C 276 is a submerged arc (SAW) wire for welding nickel alloys. It works on boiler components, furnace parts, chemical installations and heat exchangers exposed to aggressive media.
The wire suits grades such as 1.5662, X8Ni9, 1.5680, X12Ni5 and NiMo16Cr15W. Its deposit keeps its impact toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so it reaches tanks and lines for liquefied gases.
- Classification EN ISO: S Ni 6276 (NiCr15Mo16Fe6W4)
- AWS classification: ERNiCrMo-4
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 1.5 / 1.6 / 2.4 mm
Degrease the joint before welding, because sulphur and lead residues left after machining cause hot cracking in nickel. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
