What diamondspark S NiCu1 HP SAW wire is used for

diamondspark S NiCu1 HP is a submerged arc (SAW) wire for welding nickel alloys. It goes into tanks and pipework made of nickel alloys, and into cladding layers on steel.

Submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds. The seamless construction limits moisture pick-up in the core and keeps the hydrogen level in the weld low.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14171-A, S TZ2Ni1Cu
  • AWS classification: A5.23 / SFA-5.23, ECG
  • Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas

Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
