Avesta FCW 2205-PW is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding duplex and superduplex steels. It goes on tanks, pipelines and structures for the chemical and marine industries, where the joint has to combine strength with corrosion resistance.
The rutile core makes work in constrained positions easier and gives a calm, soft arc. The slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even and the transitions to the parent metal are smooth. Typical work covers chemical plants, desalination units, tanks and offshore structures in duplex steel.

- AWS classification: E2209T1-4 ; E2209T1-1
Protect the root and keep the gas coverage complete, oxidised zones in duplex are where pitting corrosion starts. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool, not ahead of it.
