Application

What BÖHLER CN 22/9 PW-FD flux-cored wire is used for

BÖHLER CN 22/9 PW-FD is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding duplex and superduplex steels. It runs on chemical plants, desalination units, tanks and offshore structures made of duplex steel.

It joins grades such as 1.4462, 1.4362, 1.4583, P235GH, P265GH, S255N, S460N and UNS S31803 together with their equivalents. The wire goes on offshore structures, where the joint works in a marine environment, and on chemical, pulp and paper and marine equipment loaded both mechanically and by corrosion.

  • Classification EN ISO: T 22 9 3 NL P M(C) 1
  • AWS classification: E2209T1-4 ; E2209T1-1
  • Diameters: 1.2 mm

Protect the root and keep the gas coverage complete, oxidised zones in duplex are where pitting corrosion starts. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time.
