Application

What Avesta FCW 308L/MVR-PW flux-cored wire is used for

Avesta FCW 308L/MVR-PW is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.

It joins materials such as 1.4301, 1.4307, 304L, 1.4311, 304LN and 1.4541. All welding positions are open to it, which helps on site, and typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

  • Classification EN ISO: T 19 9 L P M/C 1
  • AWS classification: E308LT1-4 ; E308LT1-1
  • Diameters: 1.2 mm

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time.
