Avesta LDX 2101 is a submerged arc (SAW) wire for welding duplex and superduplex stainless steels. It goes into tanks, pipelines and chemical or marine structures that need strength and corrosion resistance at the same time.
Typical base materials are 1.4301 and AISI 304. The wire is also used on boilers and pressure vessels under statutory inspection.
- Classification EN ISO: S 23 7 N L
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Do not quench the joint with water or force the cooling, too fast a cooling rate leaves too much ferrite in the weld. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner wires are easier to control.
