Thermanit 23/07 is a high alloyed submerged arc (SAW) wire for lean duplex stainless steels. It works on chemical installations, desalination plant, tanks and offshore structures in two phase steels.
The wire suits grades such as 1.4162, 1.4362, 1.4482 and UNS S32101. It is used on boilers and pressure vessels under statutory inspection, and its deposit belongs to the lean duplex group with a lowered nickel content.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 23 7 N L
- AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.10 ER2307
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 1.5 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Do not quench the joint with water or force the cooling, too fast a cooling rate leaves too much ferrite in the weld. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
