What Avesta P12 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Avesta P12 is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding nickel alloys. It is used on tanks and piping in nickel alloys, and for cladding steel surfaces.

The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch, on chemical equipment, high-temperature plant and dissimilar joints between nickel alloys and steels.

Degrease the joint before welding, sulphur and lead compounds left after machining lead to hot cracking in nickel. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Joint preparation, that is the bevel angle and the root gap, matters as much as the parameters themselves.
