BÖHLER NiBAS 625-IG is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding nickel alloys. It is used on tanks and piping in nickel alloys, and for cladding steel surfaces.
The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, so it goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases and on boilers and pressure vessels under technical inspection.
- Classification EN ISO: S Ni 6625 (NiCr22Mo9Nb)
- AWS classification: ERNiCrMo-3
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 mm
Degrease the joint before welding, sulphur and lead compounds left after machining lead to hot cracking in nickel. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
