Thermanit Nicro 82 is a solid wire in a nickel chromium alloy of the NiCr-3 type. It goes into tanks and pipework made of nickel alloys, and into cladding layers on steel.
The wire joins grades such as 1.4583, 1.4539, NiCr15Fe, 1.4876, X8Ni9, 10CrMo9-10 and 600L, along with related materials. The deposit resists intergranular corrosion.
- Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 6082 (NiCr20Mn3Nb)
- AWS classification: A5.14 ERNiCr-3
- Shielding gas: I1, I3, Z-ArHeHC-30/2/0.05
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.5 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (03089), DNV
Degrease the joint before welding, because sulphur and lead residues left after machining cause hot cracking in nickel. Match the feed rolls to the wire diameter and inspect the liner, wire slip shows up at once as an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a stick-out drops the arc voltage and worsens penetration. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
