What BÖHLER CAT 439L Ti-MC metal-cored wire is used for

BÖHLER CAT 439L Ti-MC is a high alloyed ferritic stainless metal-cored wire of the EC 439 type. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.

The metal core combines the deposition rate of a cored wire with an almost slag-free bead, as you get from a solid wire. The deposit has a ferritic structure, and typical work covers tanks, process installations and equipment in contact with water and steam.

  • Classification EN ISO: 17633-A T Z 17 Ti L M M12/M13 1
  • AWS classification: A5.22 / SFA-5.22 EC439
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Approvals: CE

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Keep the gas cover complete, without a full slag layer the pool is more sensitive to draughts. Check the feed roll pressure, a metal-cored wire is easier to crush than a solid one.
