BÖHLER EAS 2-FD is a flux-cored wire with a rutile core for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
It joins grades such as 1.4306, X2CrNi1, 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4311, 1.4312 and 1.4541 together with their equivalents. The deposit keeps its toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so the wire goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, and its composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion.
- Classification EN ISO: T 19 9 L R M(C) 3
- AWS classification: E308LT0-4 ; E308LT0-1
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
