BÖHLER EAS 4 M-FD is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4435, 1.4436, 1.4571, 1.4580 and 1.4583. The deposit keeps its toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so the wire goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, and it resists intergranular corrosion.
- Classification EN ISO: T 19 12 3 L R M(C) 3
- AWS classification: E316LT0-4 ; E316LT0-1
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool, not ahead of it.
