What BÖHLER Pipeshield 71 T8-FD self-shielded flux-cored wire is used for

BÖHLER Pipeshield 71 T8-FD is a self-shielded flux-cored wire for mild steel, matched to X60 parent material and meant for pipe welding in the vertical down position (5G).

It needs no shielding gas, which makes work outdoors and in wind simpler, and no cylinder or regulator is needed at the station. The wire works on welded structures, halls, frames, machine parts and repairs of structural steel.

  • Classification EN ISO: 17632-A T38 3 Z1Ni Y NO 1 H10
  • AWS classification: A5.29/SFA-5.29 E71T8-K6
  • Shielding: self-shielded, no shielding gas

On thicker parts and in a cold workshop plan preheating to cut the risk of cold cracking. Work with fume extraction, self-shielded wires smoke far more than gas shielded ones. Check the polarity before you start, self-shielded wires often run differently from solid wires.
