FOXcore Zn GS is a metal-cored wire for mild and low-alloy steels, including fine grained grades. It is used on steel structures, tanks, machine frames and workshop work on plain carbon steel.
The wire leaves only silicate islands instead of a full slag layer, which shortens the cleaning time between passes. Its metal core combines the deposition rate of a cored wire with an almost slag-free bead, as you get from a solid wire.
- Classification EN ISO: 17632-A, T3T Z M M21 1
- AWS classification: A5.18 / SFA-5.18, E70C-GS
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
Match the voltage to the wire feed speed, too low a setting gives a convex bead and no fusion into the edges. Keep the gas cover complete, without a full slag layer the pool is more sensitive to draughts. Check the feed roll pressure, a metal-cored wire is easier to crush than a solid one. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
