What BÖHLER Pipeshield 81 T8-FD self-shielded flux-cored wire is used for

BÖHLER Pipeshield 81 T8-FD is a low-alloyed, self-shielded flux-cored wire matched to X70 parent material and meant for pipe welding in the vertical down position (5G).

The shielding comes from the core, so no cylinder or regulator is needed at the station and the wire suits outdoor work, wind included. It works on welded structures, halls, frames, machine parts and repairs of structural steel.

  • Classification EN ISO: 17632-A T46 3 Z2Ni Y NO 1 H10
  • AWS classification: A5.29 / FA-5.29 E81T8-G
  • Shielding: self-shielded, no shielding gas

Match the voltage to the wire feed speed, too low a setting gives a convex face and no fusion into the edges. Keep the stick-out recommended for self-shielded wires, too short a one spoils the pool shielding and causes porosity. Work with fume extraction, self-shielded wires smoke far more than gas shielded ones.
