What BÖHLER Q 71 RC flux-cored wire is used for

BÖHLER Q 71 RC is a rutile flux-cored wire for mild steel, suitable for all welding positions and run under M21 or 100 % CO2 shielding gas.

It is used in structural steelwork, on tanks, piping and series production. The rutile core makes constrained positions easier and gives a calm, soft arc, and the slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even.

  • Classification EN ISO: 17632-A T 46 4 P M21 1 H10 T 42 2 P C1 1 H5
  • AWS classification: A5.20 / SFA-5.20 E71T-1M/T-9M/T-12M JH8 E71T-1/T-9/T-12C-JH4
  • Shielding gas: M21, C1
  • Approvals: TÜV (11164), DB (42.014.35), ABS, LR, DNV, BV, CWB, RINA, CE

Clean rust, paint and grease out of the groove, contaminated plate gives porosity even with well set parameters. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture.
