FOXcore 2209-T1 HD is a high-alloyed flux-cored wire of the E 2209 type for duplex stainless steel, suitable for all welding positions, run under a mixed shielding gas and rated down to -50 °C.
It is used on grades such as 1.4462, 1.4362, 1.4162, UNS S32205 and 2205. All welding positions are open to it, which helps on site assembly, and the wire works on chemical plants, tanks and offshore structures in duplex steel.

Watch the heat input and the interpass temperature, overheating duplex upsets the ferrite to austenite balance in the weld. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
