FOXcore GUARD 309L-T1 is a flux-cored wire with a rutile core. It suits welding stainless and acid-resistant steels and works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
The slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even and the transitions to the parent metal are smooth, while the core gives a fast freezing pool and slag that lifts easily. The wire is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool, not ahead of it.
