Thermanit 690 is a basic coated nickel base electrode of the E Ni 6152 / ENiCrFe-7 type. The deposit has high resistance to stress corrosion cracking in pure water environments and resistance in oxidizing media, for example nitric acid. The manufacturer points in particular to applications in nuclear power.
The base material is 2.4642 (UNS N06690), known as Alloy 690. With this electrode you join materials of the same and of similar composition, and you also clad low alloy and stainless steels. Work is done on DC with the electrode positive, in the 3.2 and 4.0 mm diameters.

Make claddings on low alloy steel after preheating the part and lay them thin, to limit dilution with the base material. Nickel does not tolerate contamination with sulfur, so remove grease, chalk and marker pen traces from the groove. Keep the current at the lower limit for the diameter, the arc short and the bead narrow. On work in nuclear plant keep records of the batch and of the storage conditions of the electrodes.
